SAFEGUARDING

If you think a child or adult is in immediate danger or a crime has been committed, you should call the police on 999.

Our Lighthouse Safeguarding Officers are the first person to speak to if you have any concerns around the welfare of a child or vulnerable adult. Their details can be found below.

The following statement is the Safeguarding Policy Statement for the Hackney Lighthouse CIO, which is reviewed on an annual basis. To view the Safeguarding Policy Statements in full please email lighthouse@saint.church.

Hackney Lighthouse CIO is committed to safeguarding the welfare of adults at risk of harm who engage with our activities. We believe that every individual has value and dignity and has the right to live free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This policy outlines our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment and the procedures we follow to prevent and respond to safeguarding concerns.

We recognise that safeguarding is the responsibility of the whole organisational community. Safely recruiting and supporting all those with any responsibility related to adults at risk of harm, children and young people within Lighthouse activities, including the use of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), disclosures and making appropriate referrals to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Staff, volunteers and trustees may receive disclosures of abuse and observe vulnerable adults who are at risk. This document will enable staff/volunteers to make informed and confident responses to specific adult protection issues.
